Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi everyone! My name is Mohcine Harris, but people call me Mohcine Aoki. I’m 21 years old and come from Casablanca, Morocco in North Africa. I’m a fashion blogger & stylist beginner. I’m still a student at Commerce & Finance University in Casablanca; this is my second year. I study Economy. I love to hang out with my friends and take as many pictures [as I can]. In my free times, I like to walk around and take random pictures of people or things that I think are weird and funny at the same time. I also like to go shopping with friends, choose the perfect outfit for them and just put things together [that I] make them try on. You wanna know something interesting? My name is an Arabic name and it actually means “good” haha! I always thought that was funny.
How did you first get interested in fashion and why is it important?
When I was little my dad had 2 invitations to a fashion show randomly and when I went, I was like “WOW this is really cool.” I totally loved how they organized it and the ideas that they had. That’s when i got interested. When I got to age 17, I realized that even though [people] say that Morocco has no fashion, I want to change that and I want them to say yes, it does. And that’s when I realized I wanted to be the boy that has those crazy fashion ideas that people will look at and have a smile on their faces.
What are your passions?
One of my passions is to play soccer. I love watching soccer too; I am a big fan of Real Madrid. I also like to read. I love reading are fiction books [because] you just imagine things that you never had and they make me think and give me more ideas, crazy ones too. Listening to music is the other thing I adore, I know it’s everyone’s favorite thing to do. Well it’s mine too. As they say, music is real.
What do you love about living in Casablanca?
I love my city Casablanca like every person loves his own city. It’s the most beautiful city (and even the whole country is beautiful) even though people can’t see it that way. My city is a wonderful city because people will welcome you even if they don’t know you because people have big hearts. Many people like Casablanca because it’s a easy city you could find clothes and things you’d like to wear. If you are looking for the perfect place to take pictures you are more then welcome. As I was saying there are many beautiful places to take them.
Top 3 places to visit in Morocco:
Casablanca: I lived here my whole life and I know a lot about it. It’s the biggest city in Morocco and has one of the biggest malls that just opened up, which has some of the greatest shops in the world.
Marrakech: A tourist city where you could find many hotels and “riad,” it’s also one of the hottest cities through the year and it doesn’t even have a beach because it is in the middle of Morocco, but it doesn’t mean that it is a bad idea to go during summer. Trust me, it is a great idea 😉
Tangier: The last choice I could think of, it has the best beaches in Africa. If you had a rough year and all you want is to relax and just listen to the sound of the beach, this is a great place to be.
Describe your personal style and its influences/inspiration.
Well as you can see on all of my pictures, I try to [take inspiration] from different styles. My personal style [is] I just follow my day’s mood see what will suit me best. I always get inspired from street style, trends, and also do research for myself to make my style better day by day. I get inspiration from the streets, books, magazines, videos/music & from LB too 😀
Favorite designers and places to shop?
I have 3 designers that I truly think are crazy and I actually love their work: Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs. I hope I could say every shop I ever saw and shopped in but that would take more then a page haha! So these are my favorite ones and the ones I shop more often: April77, Zara, H&M, Topman, American Apparel, Cheap Monday, Pull & Bear…
The first thing you look at in another person’s outfit is:
If it is a guy the first thing that gets in my mind to look at is his shoes, and if he is wearing good ones, I can do anything in order to speak with him. If it is a girl, you would not believe this, but I would look at the color of her hair and definitely I will be checking her out :p
What do you skimp on?
Shoes. I really need to buy some new boots soon!
What do you splurge on?
Shirts & belts.
A fashion rule you always break:
I didn’t know that there were any rules in fashion, and if there are, I never follow rules anyway.
A fashion rule you never break:
THERE ARE NO RULES IN FASHION! You could go as crazy or wild as you want just have fun doing it.
What do you think is the most recent notable trend to appear/reappear, and what are your thoughts on it?
So many! It’s hard to choose! The hippie vibe is quite strong, especially in the summer with all the festivals. Also the 1950’s is very popular with certain crowds.
Generally [I see] vintage looks at the moment. The high street is definitely picking up on it. They are designing clothes based on vintage pieces such as the prints and patterns used. It’s a hard thing to pinpoint, I don’t think the noughties have really gotten their own clothing identity. I think it’s all been about going back and looking over past eras to influence what people wear.
What is the most underrated item in menswear and womenswear?
I think more people should wear hats.
Your favorite colour(s) of the moment are:
My top color is blue and its been the color blues since i was a little boy. All kind of blues you could image just makes my day.
What is your next “must have” purchase?
I want to buy a ticket to watch the LMFAO show at the Mawazine festival. Haha!
What is the ultimate showpiece in your closet?
It will have to be my burgundy jeans from April77, You could only find a little of them around and I don’t want to give this one out.
Are there any fashion icons or famous people whose style you admire?
Oh yes there are some celebrities that I admire. Bruno Mars is my favourite one; he has such a unique style.
What’s on your iPod / bookshelf / DVD player at the moment?
Well I am a big fan of Lil Wayne, Kid Ink & Tyga; their style, their music, their everything. I love hip hop music, pop/rock & all kinds of electro especially dubstep.
The movie that I like on all my DVD players is calledIntouchable—many of you might know this movie.
The book that I really loved reading many times is Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. It talks about this boy at school that had a gun and got so tired of bulling at school he decided to kill students at school…I like this book because there are many bullies around the world and it affects people so much.
What can’t you live without?
My phone! I can’t go anywhere without my phone it’s the only reason that I’m living right now. I go out and my phone is in my pocket, I eat and it’s always there watching me eat on the table. I sleep while hearing my girlfriend talking to me every single day. My phone is like my best friend to me.
Next place you want to travel to (and why):
Stockholm, because I have a lot of friends I talk to on Facebook that I got to know and they almost have the same style as me. They always make me jealous and tell me how beautiful it is around there and how it snows, because we don’t have snow around here at Casablanca. I’m so exited to go there and meet them.
In the year 2017 you will be:
I want to be in many positions. I have a lot of dreams that I want to follow; one of them is being [one of] the great fashion men that change the world. You never know if that will ever happen but I will continue to follow it. I just want to have a great life with a great job and happy with a great wife that loves me and [is] the one I love.
What would you say to someone seeking fashion advice?
I would advise him to research, follow trends and create his own style by making experiences
Adorei algumas coisas as quais ele falou:
”Uma regra de moda que não deve ser quebrada: NÃO HÁ REGRAS NA MODA! Você pode se vestir o quanto louco e bizarro queira, só mantenha a diversão ao fazê-lo.”
”Crie seu próprio estilo vivendo experiências.”
Dá uma olhada no estilo do boy:
